Countdown To Christmas With A Beer A Day

A Festive 24 Days Of Beer Discovery With The ‘Not An Advent Calendar’ Craft Beer Box From Thirsty Beer Shop

In what is a first for Singapore, or perhaps, the region, Thirsty Beer Shop, the online craft beer retailer has launched the ‘Not An Advent Calendar’ craft beer box of 24 curated beers for December 2020.

Just like a traditional Advent calendar/card with 24 cubby holes or “boxes” for each day, the ‘Not An Advent Calendar’ beer box allows you to open a mini door to reveal a different, novel craft beer every day in December in the run up to Christmas. Traditional Advent calendars feature the manger scene and winter weather and come in a multitude of forms, from a simple paper calendar with flaps covering each of the days to fabric pockets on a background scene to painted wooden boxes with cubby holes for small items.

The ’Not For Advent Calendar craft beer box features 24 different kinds of craft beers from America, Australia, Belgium, Britain and the Netherlands. They comprise 14 distinctive beer styles that would satisfy even the most demanding quaffer. They cover the whole gamut of craft beers – from light to dark, hoppy to malty and include exotica such as New Belgium Fat Tire Amber Ale, Golden Road Mango Cart, Green Flash Tropical DNA Hazy IPA and Mother Earth Cali Creamin Cream Ale. Once you’ve untwisted your tongue, you can be forgiven for wondering if the brewers had been guzzling too much of their own brew when they christened these marvellous beers.

Not only do the frothy brews come in diverse styles, they also come in a variety of cans of 330ml, 355ml and 375ml and include a gift item, the Thirsty Beer Can Glass. As if it wasn’t enjoyable enough to open a door and discover a can of premium beer, each cubby-hole features a fun fact or a joke. A single box costs S$159, S$465 for three boxes and S$765 for five boxes. They are delivered direct to your doorstep free of charge.

In a country where quaffing a beer in a ‘Kopi Tiam’ is seen as part of national culture, it is no surprise that Singapore was chosen as the launch pad for such a quirky beer product. After all, Singapore has a long standing legacy of homegrown breweries and cool tap rooms where beer worshippers can indulge in limited batches of pale ales and triple-strength India Pale Ales.

The ‘Not For Advent Calendar’ craft beer box was created not only as an enjoyable Xmas gift, but to make it easier for newcomers to navigate the “crowded and confusing marketplace of beers,” said CEO & Founder Roland Utama. “Being confronted by so many craft beer choices can be bewildering. With a ‘Not For Advent Calendar’ craft beer box we curate the beers for you, leaving only the surprise and fun of discovering your new favourite beer,” he added.
