New Managing Committee At SIFAS With K V Rao As President

The Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society, a 70-year-old institution promoting Indian classical music, dance and arts, has a new Management Committee headed by K V Rao and comprising individuals from various fields.

Rao, who is Resident Director – ASEAN at Tata Sons Ltd, has been associated with the institution in several roles in the past 18 years. “SIFAS is a pillar organisation of the Indian community of Singapore and serves as a wonderful platform to bring together new expatriate Indians and local Singaporean Indians creating beautiful cultural milieu. It has been sort of a ‘right of passage‘ for many immigrant Indians who came to Singapore, and made it home – like myself too,” he said.

He added that the new committee has a wonderful set of inspired individuals, a mix of new and experienced members, who will work towards taking this institution to greater heights. “We thank all those who nurtured the institution for the last 70 years, and the recent committee that worked hard to introduce several new initiatives, and their contribution,” he said.

Stating that music, dance and art make a big difference to one’s busy life, he urged people to come forward and be a part of the SIFAS family by involving themselves in the various activities and programmes. SIFAS has over 2000 students of all ages and 30 teachers who are all highly accomplished professionals.
