The recently concluded SICCI Entrepreneur Awards 2019, celebrated in conjunction with the chamber’s 95th anniversary, was a great success with top members of the business community joining in. Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mr Heng Swee Keat was all praises for the SICCI’s long contribution to Singapore’s economic growth and the achievements of the finalists of these awards.
In a Facebook post, Mr Heng, who was also the Guest of Honour said, “Celebrated the 95th anniversary of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and the achievements of the SICCI Entrepreneur Awards finalists on Saturday. While Singapore is commemorating our bicentennial year, SICCI is fast approaching its own centennial. They have done good work in establishing opportunities for businesses both in Singapore and abroad.
Congratulations to all the outstanding SICCI Entrepreneur Awards recipients, including the Lifetime Achievement recipient Ameerali R Jumabhoy! Not only was Ameerali responsible for drafting Singapore’s employees’ provident fund Bill, he led business delegations to 22 countries across Asia, Africa and Europe, including Singapore’s first delegation to South Africa in 1992!
In the face of global headwinds, our ability to stay united, innovate, and internationalise together will enable us to overcome our challenges. I wish SICCI and our Singapore Indian business community continued success as we write our Singapore story.”
India Se Media’s Managing Director, Mrs Shobha Tsering Bhalla, who is a director on the board of SICCI, was actively involved in the organising of this event.
