Indian High Commissioner To Singapore, HE Jawed Ashraf, Speaks To India Se Before PM Narendra Modi’s Visit

An important step forward in India's Act East Policy, this visit will see the signing of more than 30 bilateral agreements between India and Singapore.

In an exclusive interview with India Se Media’s editor-in-chief, Shobha Tsering Bhalla, HE Jawed Ashraf, India’s High Commissioner to Singapore, shares details of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s forthcoming visit to this island country and its significance in strengthening bilateral ties with the ASEAN Region.

An important step forward in India’s Act East Policy, this visit will see the signing of more than 30 bilateral agreements between India and Singapore.

PM Modi will arrive in Singapore for a two-day state visit from May 31 to June 2, 2018. He will also deliver the keynote address at Shangri-La Dialogue, an annual security meet, on June 1.

On May 31st evening PM Modi is scheduled to address a major event focused on business, innovation and technology at the Grand Sands Ball Room, Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

On June 1, after the official reception, PM Modi will visit the Nanyang Technological University and have an interaction session on ‘Transforming Asia through Innovation’ with the president and board members.

On June 2, at Clifford Pier – where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed in the sea on March 27, 1948 – he will unveil a plaque. This will be followed by a visit to a few places of worship and a visit to the Changi Naval Base in Singapore, where the Indian Naval Ship INS Satpura is docked, to interact with officers and sailors of the Indian Navy and Royal Singapore Navy.
