Dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar will be released from Dasna jail in Ghaziabad today, four days earlier than their scheduled release.
The couple was expected to be freed on Friday, but the mandatory paperwork and weekend pushed their release forward.
Back in 2008, the Talwars were implicated by the CBI in the murder of their daughter Aarushi, who was found dead at their Noida home. Last Thursday, the Allahabad High Court acquitted the couple. Reports state that even after the acquittal, the Talwars must provide a surety to make sure that they will appear in court in the event that the state files an appeal in a higher court.
According to the Deccan Chronicle, the jailor of the Dasna Jail, Dr Maurya, “informed that the dup breathed a sigh of relief after the announcement of their acquittal.”.
Vandana Talwar, Aarushi’s aunt, said to the media, “We are deeply relieved and grateful to God for the verdict. It's been an exhausting journey for us and it has been very trying time for our family. We have suffered a lot for almost ten years."
The media received lot of flak for its sensational and salacious coverage of the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case, along with the investigative units who were criticised for their poor adherence to protocol and careless handling of the crime scene, resulting in the tampering of evidence.
