“Singin’ in the Rain” is a West-end hit that brings in youthful exuberance and energy, and a nostalgic feeling of the 1954 movie from which it is faithfully adapted from.
The fresh musical, which now shows in Singapore, is filled with extended dance sequences and lively numbers that will leave you humming for hours after you leave the theatre! One of the most memorable songs “Good Morning” is infectious with its cheerful beat, and the cast leaping energetically over park benches.
The media today afternoon was treated to a preview of the show and got a first hand experience of the finale, where front row audiences got to really experience the rain. The final number “Singin’ in the Rain” uses a mammoth 12,000 litres of water, and involves Don Lockwood (played by Duane Alexander) splashing around with infectious childhood glee. But if you are worried about water conservation, fret not for the water used in this song is drained after each performance and recycled, and eventually used to water plants in Marina Bay Sands.
The starring cast includes Duane Alexander, Bethany Dickson (previously seen as Maria in the Sound of Music), Steven Van Wyk, and Taryn-Lee Hudson. “Singin’ in the Rain” is a play not to be missed, as it features superlative singing and energetic dancing.
Catch this musical at the MasterCard - Theatres at Marina Bay Sands from tonight July 10-August 2, 2015.
