Robert and Philip Ng remain the richest Singaporeans, continuing to top the list of billionaires in Singapore, according to Forbes. The brothers’ estimated worth has increased from US$9.4 billion in 2017 to US$10.8 billion in 2018. They control Far East Organization, Singapore's largest private landlord and property developer.
Goh Cheng Lian, second on the list, on the other hand, is now estimated to be worth US$7 billion, down from US$7.8 billion in 2017. The businessman, who founded Wuthelam Holdings, gets the bulk of his wealth from a 39% stake in Japan's Nippon Paint Holdings.
United Overseas Bank chairman Wee Cho Yaw has moved up from the sixth to the third place, up from US$5.8 billion to US$6.6 billion, while the Kwee family hold on to the fourth spot, though their estimated worth has dropped from US$6.3 billion to US$5.6 billion. The four Kwee siblings control the privately held Pontiac Land, which owns an array of luxury hotels and iconic office towers across the island-nation.
Raj Kumar and Kishin RK remain the richest Indians in Singapore with an estimated worth of US$2.6 billion, same as in 2017. They are among Singapore's leading landlords with their Royal Holdings/RB Capital property empire. Raj Kumar’s younger brother, Asok Hiranandani, is the next richest Indian, worth US$1.5 billion, up from US$1.42 billion. Hiranandani, who separated from his brother in 2011 after dividing their property empire, is the chairman of the Royal Group, which owns office towers, shopping malls and hotels.
Gaming hardware company Razer Inc co-founder Min-Liang Tan, 40, is the youngest Singaporean on the list. Forbes lists 2,208 billionaires worldwide.
