Close on the heels of garnering positive reviews for Vistara’s premium economy class - SIA’s joint venture airline with the Tata Group in India – Singapore Airlines has now decided to offer a similar experience starting with its Singapore-Sydney flights.
The first set of premium economy seats will be introduced on National Day, August 9. The seats on this new cabin class will be bigger, with an eight-inch recline, and full-leather finishing, calf-rest and foot-bar. In-flight entertainment will come in the form of 13.3-inch full HD monitors and noise-cancelling headphones while passengers can choose from three meal choices and select from the Premium Economy Book the Cook service that offers popular dishes. Besides SIA’s selection of wines, passengers can opt for champagne throughout the flight.
The new cabin class also gives passengers up to 35kg in baggage allowance and KrisFlyer members will be entitled to 10 per cent more miles.
Other destinations that will be added later include Delhi, Bombay, Beijing, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, London, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Zurich, the airline said in a statement.
