The newly appointed High Commissioner of India to Singapore, Jawed Ashraf recently took charge after presenting his credentials to the President Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam at the Istana Presidential Palace of Singapore.
President Tan emphasised the importance that Singapore attaches to its relations with India, expressed happiness at the excellent state of bilateral relations, lauded the rapid progress in expansion of cooperation in recent years.
Ashraf is a 1991 Indian Foreign Service officer who was Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs. He has been one of the foreign policy aides of Prime Minister Narendra Modi having worked in the PMO since 2012, along with former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh too.
The High Commissioner also conveyed India’s gratitude for President Tan’s personal contribution in diverse capacities to the strengthening of bilateral relations.
