The Malaysian police have seized about RM114 million (S$38.4 million) in cash during raids on properties linked to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Thirty-five of the 72 bags seized contained cash estimated to be RM114 million, said Mr Amar Singh, the director of the police's commercial crime investigation department, at a press conference on May 25.
The banknotes were in 26 currencies, but the biggest amounts were in ringgit and Singapore dollars.
The remaining 37 bags contained watches and jewellery but the police have yet to verify their value, said Mr Singh.
The raids were conducted as part of police investigations into allegations of corruption and money-laundering surrounding troubled state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
