India’s Mary Kom rose to the top of the boxing world rankings yesterday (January 10), two months after becoming the first female boxer to win six world championships.
The 36-year-old mother of three was ranked number one by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) in the Light Fly 45-48 kg category, scoring 1700 points.
On November 24, 2018, she created history by becoming the first woman to win six world championships, achieving this feat at the 10th AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships in New Delhi, defeating Hanna Okhota of Ukraine.
