A ”Happiness Curriculum” is being introduced for school students in Delhi. The Buddhist spiritual leader and Nobel Peace Laureate, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, will unveil the curriculum on July 2, reported the Tibetan Journal.
About 800,000 students from nursery to Class VIII in around 1,000 Delhi Government schools will have to go through the curriculum, said Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
Meditation, moral values and mental exercises will be part of the curriculum intended to produce “sarvagun sampann” (versatile) “professionals and human beings who could serve the society with happiness”, the minister said. About 35 to 40 experts including school teachers and principals worked on the curriculum from the beginning of the year, he added.
