Singaporeans are among the richest people in the world.
According to the 2017 Global Wealth Report, the median wealth per adult in Singapore is US$108,850 ($147899), making it one of the 10 richest countries in the world.
Switzerland is the richest, according to the report by the Credit Suisse Research Unit.
Here is the list of the richest countries in terms of median wealth per adult.
The United States is 24th on the list with a median wealth of US$55,876 per adult and Hong Kong 27th with US$46,079.
Qatar, 18th globally, is the richest in the Middle East, with a median wealth of US$71,118 per adult. The median wealth per adult in India is US$1,295 and in China US$6,689.
US richest in total wealth
The United States remains the richest country in the world in terms of total wealth. Here is the list of the richest countries in terms of total wealth.
As shown in the latest edition of the Global Wealth Report by the Credit Suisse Research Institute (CSRI), total global wealth has now reached US$280 trillion and is 27 per cent higher than a decade ago at the onset of the financial crisis.
US gains account for half of global wealth increase, said the report.
In the past 12 months, total global wealth grew by 6.4 percent. It is the fastest pace of wealth creation since 2012 and one of the best results since the financial crisis. Moreover, as wealth increased faster than the population, global mean wealth per adult reached a new record high of USD 56,540.
Singapore's millionaire population
The report also shows Singapore has 152,000 millionaires. India has 245,000, China 1.95 million.
The United States has the largest number of millionaires (15.3 million) followed by Japan (2.6 million), the United Kingdom (2.1 million), Germany (1.959 million) and China (1.953 million).
