In a very crowded budget airlines market, newbie Malindo stands out. A company that is split between Lion Air of Indonesia and the National Aerospace and Defense Industries of Malaysia, it has risen quickly from its conception in March 2013.
What is so unique about this airline is that at competitive prices, it offers elite services. For instance, for people who can’t stand small seating space with very little leg room, Malindo offers close to what full-fare airlines do. With inflight screens on every passenger seat and enough leg room for a NBA all star, complimentary meals and of course inbuilt wifi, Malindo is the new way to fly. So an average return fare ticket to Kathmandu is available at S$400 with full comfort.
Recently, it started its services to Visakhapatnam, a coastal port city in Andhra Pradesh. It takes about three-and-a-half hours to reach Vizag and the airline flies three times a week - Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Other destinations in India include Cochin, Delhi, Bombay and Trichy. With services to India, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, Malindo is fast becoming a preferred choice, giving tough competition to others. What makes Malindo special is that it doesn’t consider itself a budget airline but more in between that and a premier flight like SIA.
