Students of the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) showcased their acting talent in three plays based on three different cultures - Ramayana’ for the Indian culture, ‘Hang Tuah’ for the Malay culture and the ‘Monkey King’ for the Chinese culture.
Presented by students from its three learning centres, each play was a modern adaptation of a legend and was put together pedantically. The aim of this initiative was to increase the students’ confidence and self-esteem. These primary school students managed to successfully remember their scripts and disseminate their memories of them with incredible emotion. The evening ended on a positive note with parents sending the teachers of DAS numerous e-mails and texts expressing their gratitude for helping their children “blossom”.
