The past week has seen a spate of activities further cementing the close bonds between Singapore and India, including the visit by India’s apex business organisation the Confederation of India Industries (CII) led by Mr Rajesh Bharti Mittal, Vice-Chairman of Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telecom services provider.
On Monday, 20th August at the Four Season’s Hotel was the Annual CII Lecture with this year’s theme being “India-Singapore Relations: Past, Present and Future”, with Singapore’s Finance Minister Mr Heng Swee Keat as the Chief Guest and ESM Goh Chok Tong as Guest-Of-Honour.
His Excellency Jawed Ashraf, the Indian High Commissioner to Singapore, gave a ringing endorsement of the yeoman work and vision of Mr Goh in starting the “India Fever” in Singapore. Mr Ashraf, whose extempore speech impressed many in the audience, also outlined a visionary road map for Singapore-India ties as well as ASEAN-India ties.
This morning, Tuesday, 21 August the TOP brass of CII and SICCI signed an MOU after a breakfast meeting with the Chairman Dr S Chandroo and members of the board, including India Se Media’s MD and Editor-in-Chief Shobha Tsering Bhalla.
