In an initiative that reinforces Singapore as an aviation hub, Airbus recently opened its 9,250 square metre training facility in Singapore to meet growing demands for pilots and other flight crew in the region.
The centre will provide training and refresher courses for crew members working on the A380 and A350 Airbus planes and Airbus’s largest flight crew training facility—with six cockpit training devices and eight full-flight simulators.
It is expected to produce over 10,000 trainees per year, and is a response to travel growth amongst Asia’s middle class. Over the next 20 years, flight crew is estimated to increase from 65,000 to 170,000, while the number of regional aircrafts are expected to increase from 5,600 to 14,000.
