Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said hosting the summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un would cost Singapore “around $20 million”. “It is a cost that we’re willing to pay and it’s our contribution to an international endeavour, which is in our profound interests,” he added.
Besides the security bill, there is also the cost of facilitating arrangements for the 2,500-strong contingent of journalists covering the summit. This, including the set-up of the international media centre at the F1 Pit Building, will cost around $5 million, the Straits Times reported quoting official sources.
