During ancient times, several luxury brands found wealthy and royal patrons in India. And today with India’s growing economic prowess, these big names in watches and jewellery are once again focusing on the country. Hence it is no surprise that these very brands have taken inspiration from India’s rich hertiage and launched products using these motifs.
In this second part of the ‘Celebrating India’ series, we present six more luxury brands that pay tribute to this country.
TAG Heuer has introduced two timepieces in the Carrera range for Indian racing enthusiasts.
1. Carrera Tachymeter Chronograph “India Racing Edition”
Just 250 pieces - numbered limited edition - have the logo of ‘Mastering Speed for 150 Years’. The presence of the car-shaped logo on the dial adds to the thrill of motor racing enthusiasts. The ‘Mastering Speed for 150 Years’ logo has been placed on the dial at 9 O’clock as well as on the Sapphire Crystal case back. The numeral 60 at the 12 O’clock position, along with the thread stitching on the leather strap is in the India saffron colours. The top pusher button also has an orange band circling it to give it a burst of racing energy.
2. Carrera MP4-12C Chronograph - A McLaren MP4-12C Sports Car Inspiration
The Carrera MP4-12C Chronograph, produced in a limited edition of 1000 pieces, is commemorative of the 26-year partnership between TAG Heuer and McLaren. The design reflects the new sports car in colour, materials, and design, with certain technical features debuting on a TAG Heuer chronograph for the very first time. The chronograph casing is durable yet ultra-lightweight sandblasted titanium grade 2, with the McLaren ‘Speed Marque’ logo on the crown.
