Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), Singapore’s most prestigious not- for-profit tertiary institute for life long learning officially launched its RM300 million (S$117 million) MDIS Malaysia campus on September 5, 2013. This will be MDIS’ second campus abroad, considering it opened its first overseas campus in 2008 in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The new campus will be five times larger than its Singapore campus, which will make it MDIS’ largest campus to date. It is slated to have the most advanced equipment and facilities, and is located at Malaysia’s new education hub, EduCity @ Iskandar.
“MDIS Malaysia represents another major step in MDIS’ overall strategy to expand our global footprint,” said MDIS Secretary-General, Dr R Theyvendran.
Acknowledging, the fact that EduCity@Iskandar is playing an important role in Malaysia’s aim to become the sixth largest education by 2020 with 200,000 international students studying there, Theyvendran said, “This offers great potential for us and we are delighted to play a part in the pursuit of Malaysia’s educational goal. MDIS Malaysia is a prime example of how intra-regional investments can be encouraged, and how both countries can develop competitive strengths jointly.”
