Since its inception in 1991, the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) has been working towards the uplifting of the Indian community in Singapore. With a core focus on Education, family services and community engagement, SINDA strives to reach out to more students, youth and their families through meaningful engagements. Two decades on, a strategic review in 2011 assessed how SINDA could serve the Indian community better, and thus it reorganised itself to cater to the newer needs of an entire family. Currently, SINDA has specific divisions to look into the holistic development of students and their families.
The Education Division at SINDA provides quality tuition programmes to students from primary to pre-University level. Over 3,600 students benefit yearly from SINDA’s flagship tutorial programmes STEP and Project Teach, which provide supplementary and complementary coaching in English, Mathematics and Science. The division also conducts ad-hoc and long-term tuition and enrichment programmes for students, as well as the A level tuition programme, Saadhana, in collaboration with NUS Tamil Language Society.
