In a move that solidifies Singapore’s position as a leading education hub, the world’s largest operator of private kindergarten-to-grade-12 schools across several price points, has opened its flagship brand school here - GEMS World Academy (GWA).
The plush 3000-student capacity school which started operations here at its five- hectare campus in Yishun a few months ago, is in expansion mode in East Asia after securing pole position in the Middle East.
It recently opened a Little GEMS at Pearl City, Penang, a school for children aged three to seven ahead of the future GEMS International School - Pearl City, which will open its doors in September this year and is looking to open in Hong Kong and China in a couple of years.
The school in Singapore which boasts “an educational environment like no other,” is part of GEMS Education’s global network of award-winning schools which teaches 140,000 students from 170 different nationalities. “If one counts the two subsidiaries in India which are not branded GEMS schools, we actually educate 250,000 students every day,” said Dino Varkey GEMS Education’s articulate young Group Executive Director and Board Member who is based in Dubai and travels to Singapore every few weeks to oversee business in the region.
