Q. Cropped tops are hot this summer, but not everybody can wear them. Please giveus tips on how this style can be worn elegantly.
A. Exposed midriffs are still a hot trend running this season. The trick is to wear them revealing just a hint of skin and not over exposing a large part of your middle. Matching top and bottoms take away the look beyond mere lingerie. The best way to beat the heat is to team them with a pair of playful shorts or a mini skirt. For an evening outing go with palazzos or a pencil skirt. Add some drama to your look with a voluminous skirt.
If you are conscious of exposing your middle, wear a layered look by teaming your outfit with a cardigan or a blazer. But a toned and flat middle works best to pull off this style.
Q.Double-breasted suits seem to dominate the runways this season. Can a man of average height like me (5 ft 8 in) wear this look?
A. These days a tailored double-breasted jacket is part of every man’s wardrobe, especially if he wants to remain up-to-date. The jacket from the 1930s became popular and was back in vogue in the 1980s. But today it has returned with a modern twist. Unlike in the past when double-breasted suits came with a boxy cut, this time it is being tailored to flatter the masculine physique. You can now give the impression of possessing a well-worked out body and not use this design to hide excess weight around the middle.
Go with lighter weight fabric like linens and cottons and avoid big lapels to cut the bulk. Pick colours like sky blue, beige, olive and pair them with comfy moccasins.
