Banking professional Karan Kalkat cherishes his stint in Africa, a place with great economic potential

If you thought Indian bankers are dominating the financialcapitals of Hong Kong, Singapore or New York, then you might want to think again. International banks are now deputing Indian professionals to take up top positions in high growth markets such as Africa as well. Karan Kalkat is one such banker, whose experience in Singapore and other parts of the world was put to good use by Standard Chartered when they made him Regional Head Development Organisations- Africa, Origination & Client Coverage - Wholesale Banking for Standard Chartered Bank, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The experience of living and working in Africa has been quite invaluable to the Kalkat family, where they had the opportunity to see most of South Africa which included road trips and going on a safari. After spending over four years in the region, Karan, along with wife Tanya and son Jaspratap, will be soon returning home, to Singapore.
